This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change. Digital Channels Reaction Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms. They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated. Size Classification Updates Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Experiences A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated. Platform Context The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
